Procedure of detecting and handling suspected Covid cases at ISSP

In order to ensure maximum safety when students go back to school, International School Saigon Pearl (ISSP) has implemented the common epidemic prevention principle for the entire school like keeping a physical distance and wearing a mask.

ISSP has also shared a handbook of guidelines for prevention and control of Covid at school for each specific audience including students, parents, teachers, school staffs, school leaders and visitors.

For example:

  • Parents need to always wear a mask, wash hands often, measure temperature regularly when taking children to school and picking them up, etc.
  • Teachers need to always ensure safety rules, guide students safety habits, etc.
  • School staffs need to wash hands often, always wear masks inside and outside the campus, etc.
  • Visitors need to always wear masks, wash hands often, and do not attend ISSP if they have any symptoms of fever, cough, difficulty breathing, etc.
  • School leaders need to control the epidemic prevention process, train teachers and school staffs on Covid epidemic prevention and control, etc.
  • Students need to ensure safety rules, follow the instructions of teachers and school administrators, etc.

Moreover, ISSP also has a procedure of detecting and handling suspected Covid cases  developed by HCDC, specifically as follows:

  • For students:
    • Step 1: Teachers notify a student suspected with Covid-19 to all school members, students and parents. Then, medical workers at school will move the suspected student to an isolation room.
    • Step 2: If the suspected student has one of the symptoms of respiratory failure, difficult breath or SpO2 below 96%, medical workers or any school members should immediately contact the nearest hospital and prepare for transferring.
    • Step 3: The school stops teaching and learning activities in the classroom for disinfection and conducts a rapid antigen test for all students and teachers as F1 who are in the same classroom with F0.
    • Step 4: The school follows up the health status of all F1 cases (whether they have obesity and background disease or have been fully vaccinated) and turn back to Step 2 if necessary.
  • For school members:
    • Step 1: The school notifies all school members, parents, students about the suspected case of Covid infection. Then, medical workers at school will move the suspected school member to an isolation room.
    • Step 2: Medical workers or any school members should immediately contact the nearest hospital and prepare for transferring if the suspected school member has one of the symptoms of respiratory failure, difficult breath or SpO2 below 96%.
    • Step 3: The school stops all activities on campus for disinfection, investigates F1 cases involving this employee and conducts a rapid antigen test for all other school members as F1 who have close contact with F0 under 2 meters within 15 minutes.
    • Step 4: The school follows up the health status of all F1 cases (whether they have obesity and background disease or have been fully vaccinated) and turn back to Step 2 if necessary.
